Collaboration with various stakeholders plays an important role

On Wednesday (4/24), the Acting Governor attended the meeting with Japanese Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister, Tetsuo Saito.

Then on Thursday (4/25), he attended the meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Senior Vice President, Hataeda Mikio, as well as closed the series of working visits by attending the TOD Investment Forum in Tokyo, Japan.

Central Government Teams Up with Japan to Realize Jakarta with TOD Concept

To speed up the MRT Jakarta development, he hoped that the Loan Agreement for the East-West MRT Project could be signed soon, and thus the groundbreaking plan in August 2024 could be realized.

Its development covers three provinces, namely Banten, Jakarta, and West Java, with an indicative route from Balaraja to Cikarang of 84.1 kilometers. The development in Jakarta is divided into two stages, namely Tomang-Medan Satria (24.5 km) and Tomang-Kembangan (9.2 km).

Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government, West Java Government, and Bekasi Government signed the agreement to support the East-West MRT project Phase 1 which would connect MRT stations from Toman to Medan Satria on February 17, 2023.

"Development of the network will increase transportation accessibility, create investment opportunities, especially in TOD development, strengthen economic growth and quality of life for Jakarta residents, and become an example for other cities in Indonesia," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Government's press release, Friday (4/26).

Further, the development of Jakarta's urban infrastructure and transportation facilities would improve the quality of life of residents, as well as prepare Jakarta as a global city and economic center after the capital city was moved to the archipelago.

"Collaboration with various stakeholders plays an important role in providing funding that will support the accelerated transformation of public transportation in Jakarta," he continued.

On that occasion, the Acting Governor was accompanied by several officials, namely City Secretary's Economy and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati; Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo; Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency Head, Atika Nur Rahmania; and City Secretary's Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi.

The TOD Investment Forum in Tokyo, which was held on April 24-26, 2024 at the Embassy Building for Japan, was held in collaboration with PT MRT Jakarta, Indonesia Embassy to Japan, Transportation Ministry, Land, Infrastructure, Japanese Transport and Tourism Ministry, as well as PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol.
